Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
I have always enjoyed Animal Collective; but never been a huge fan. It isn't that I am a music snob purist who believed that music lived and dies with Nuetral Milk Hotel, The National and The Decemberist. I just had a hard time wrapping my mind around the electronic abrasiveness of much of their work. Strawberry Jam was closer then I ever thought they would get to cueing my. However, Merriweather Post Pavillion is what everyone is saying it is, this coming from someone who really wanted to NOT like the album.
I won't go into the psuedo symantics of MPP, because I think Jeffrey did a great job last week with his review. BUT suffice to say this is certainly the release of the week. I'm not going to proclaim it the best album of the year because honestly who knows what will happen.
If you haven't pirated this album from somewhere, do it. You will not regret it. Afterall who whats to be one of those people who was still buying Guns & Roses albums when Nirvana was revolutionizing music.
